Tour Itinerary

Before World War II, Norfolk Island was a rather secluded destination, accessible only by a lengthy and challenging sea voyage.  During this tour, you’ll explore the remarkable transformations and opportunities that emerged with the establishment of the Norfolk Island Airport during World War II.  You’ll learn about the construction of the airport and discover how the New Zealand Army lived, worked and enjoyed their time on the Island.  Explore the opportunities that arose for the Islanders from the creation of the airport.  View the site of the Island’s radar station atop Mt Bates and visit the Lions Club Photographic display which showcases images from different eras.  Afternoon tea is included at a scenic location.
